Willy is a minor character in the Jem animated series. He is legendary guitarist Johnny Beldrix's manager, although he seems to care more about filling out his own agenda than for the success of the artists he represents.
He was voiced by Jack Angel.
History[]
Willy is legendary rock guitarist Johnny Beldrix's manager. On their third stop while traveling through time (thanks to Techrat's "Time Travel Device"), Jem and The Holograms arrive at the Woodstock festival of 1969. Soon upon their arrival, they meet Beldrix, who is just coming out of a van visibly upset. After their mutual presentations, he explains that the reason of his displeasure is that his manager, Willy, is forcing him to play with some "unhip chicks" he just met called The Misfits. It happens that The Misfits somehow got a deal with Willy, who insists on including them on the show no matter what Beldrix says. However, what Willy is really excited about is that soon he'll be able to show the audience his new lights show box, not actually caring if the musicians do well at the concert or not.
The Holograms confront The Misfits backstage, although this doesn't bother them since they can't prove anything against them. Jem asks them if they aren't forgetting about someone, and then she goes behind a big amplifier and asks Synergy to project a hologram of Eric Raymond. The fake Eric confronts The Misfits and tells them not to forget they are signed with him. Hearing this, Willy quickly undoes his deal with The Misfits, taking away their plans of playing at the concert, and then asks Beldrix if he's ready to go onstage, to which the guitarist gladly agrees.
Still, even if he had lost his deal with The Misfits, Willy is still eager to show his new lights equipment, which has just arrived on a trailer. However, this supposed equipment happens to be none other than Synergy, which has been tied to a rope and is about to be descended on the stage in the middle of the concert. The Misfits, still angry for having lost their chance to play, try to sabotage the concert from backstage; they push away Willy and his assistant, Carmine, from the rope controls and tamper with them, making Synergy to plummet down on the stage. Fortunately, at that precise moment, both The Holograms and Synergy are brought back to the present safe and sound.
