The Tough Drummer (real name unknown) is a minor character in the Jem animated series. She is one of the eight drummers who made it to the semifinals for the The Starlight Talent Search.
She was voiced by Susan Blu.
History[]
The drummer only appeared during the semifinals in the first "Talent Search" contest, when Jem and The Holograms were looking for a new drummer to replace Shana, who had left the band in order to work for Liz Stratton as her personal fashion designer. The drummer approached Raya during the semifinals, questioning her fame and reasons for being chosen as a semifinalist, assuming it must be to make the competition look fair.
Raya begins to cry, insulted by her rudeness, and Kimber and Aja intervene to promptly kick the drummer out of the party, as they are looking for talent and not conceit.

Trivia[]
- Christy Marx wrote in her script that this character should be animated as a "tough girl, tough looking, nasty voice, young woman wearing black leather and red lace, with black hair and a small red arrow-pierced heart painted on her cheek", and the animator went along with it.
- This drummer claims to have worked with fictional bands "Static Moss", "The Big Apes" and "The Nasties".
