The Red Aces are an all-male group appearing in the Jem animated series. They are Roxy's old street gang from her hometown, Philadelphia, who reunite when she returns for a visit in Roxy Rumbles.
Background[]
When Roxy returns to Philadelphia, she stumbles across her old street gang. It is apparent that they are just as illiterate as Roxy is, as she mentions that they all dropped out of high school.
Roxy buys their loyalty with her lottery winnings - demanding they help make life miserable for Jem and The Holograms by building a street fair to rival Jem's concert for illiterate individuals. Link initially states that he feels uncomfortable taking Roxy's money, and that Jem and the Holograms have never done The Red Aces any harm. However, Roxy's tenacity and threatening demeanor forces them to help her out.
When the street fair backfires and the group run out of free merchandise, a fight among the public breaks out and the police are swiftly called. The Holograms step in to clean up Roxy's mess, and after a conversation with Jem, The Red Aces decide to turn their lives around with their first step being to learn to read. Soon, as seen in "Open A Book", the members begin to start new permanent jobs, and can read contracts to purchase their first cars, and so on so forth.
