The Leatherettes are an all-girl music band that appears in the Jem animated series. While they don't have any dialogue during the course of the series, they make cameos in two episodes, generally taking part in montages showcasing other bands.
Lineup[]
The Leatherettes are comprised of four members, each with their own distinctive hair color. None of their names are ever mentioned throughout the series. Their stage outfits are punk-esque, and they wear a lot of chains and spiked collars to represent their genre. Their outfits are also slightly garish, with the punk details clashing with the neon colors of their hair and pants.

History[]
The Leatherettes' first appearance takes place in the episode The Beginning, where they are in competition with a number of other bands including The Space Cadets, the Limp Lizards and The Misfits in a small music contest in a park arranged by Eric Raymond.
When the audience cheer after their performance, they appear thrilled. However, the audience celebrate just as much for The Space Cadets, and their demeanor changes from positive to enraged.
The Leatherettes also make a short but sweet appearance in the IDW comic adaptation of Jem and The Holograms, with their characters redesigned as well as The Space Cadets'.
