Stephen the Guard is a minor character in the 2015 musical, fantasy, adventure film, Jem and the Holograms, directed by Jon M. Chu. He is played by American actor Ryan Hansen.
Personality[]
Stephen looks like your average security guard, someone one wouldn't want to mess around with. However, in reality he is a very easy-going and adorable man, especially if he has the opportunity to meet the celebrities he admires the most.
Plot[]
The first time we meet Stephen, he is in charge of watching over the surveillance cameras at Starlight Enterprises. Aja hacks the building's security network with her tablet from outside to buy Jerrica and Rio some time to escape and replaces the cameras' signals to a video of a water-skiing squirrel. When Stephen watches this through the monitors, instead of raising the alarm, he starts laughing and calls his colleagues to join in the fun.
Erica orders to put the building under lock-down and Jerrica tries to escape by the front door by donning a pink wig and adopting her Jem persona. When Stephen sees her, he stops and asks her for an identification. However, when he realizes who he's talking to, he loses it completely since he is one of Jem's biggest fans.
What ensues next, is a very amusing scene where he asks Jem for an autograph for his daughter who, according to him, is a big fan. He starts talking nonsense and, not having any paper for her to sign the autograph on, asks her to sign it on his forearm. When Jem asks him what's his daughter's name, he responds: "Stephen".
Trivia[]
- The plaque on his jacket displays his surname: "Moore".
- Apparently, he is also a big fan of the Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel act.
- It is implied that Stephen had Jem's autograph on his arm tattooed after their encounter.
