Roland Owens

Roland Owens is a minor character in the Jem animated series. He is an extremely talented singer and musician, known as the grand master of rhythm and blues.

Roland was one of the famous musicians invited to perform at the "Jem Jam".

History[]

Roland is a popular musician and singer, known for his exceptional musical talents. He arrives at the Hollywood Hills party, introduced as one of the guests for the "Jem Jam" that will be thrown by Jem and The Holograms. He is brought onto the stage by Kimber, where the crowd erupts into applause. He performs "Jam All Night Long" with Jem and The Holograms and the rest of the celebrity musicians.

Appearance[]

Roland is of African-American descent. He wears a purple and gold two-piece set, paired with his black glasses and shoes. The colors suggest an aura of importance and also tie in with his genre of rhythm and blues.

Roland Owens is based on real-life rhythm and blues legend, Stevie Wonder, who is known for his incredible musical abilities and virtually being a one-man band. He became a child prodigy at age 11, and the youngest artist to top the charts when his song "Fingertips" reached first place when he was only 13 years old.
