Trivia[]
- This episode gives nods to Robin Hood, a heroic outlaw in English folklore who, according to legend, was a highly skilled archer and swordsman who was known to rob from the rich and give to the poor.
- There also are references to great classical works, such as Lord Carfax being imprisoned behind a brick wall, a fate shared by the character of Fortunato in "The Cask of Amontillado" by Edgar Allan Poe; but a crucial difference is, unlike Fortunato, Lord Carfax is rescued. Another instance of borrowing from classic literature is from Part Three of The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later, The Man in the Iron Masque, by Alexandre Dumas, in which the twin brother of King Louis XIV of France is imprisoned by his parents and forced to wear an iron mask to prevent his identity from being discovered.
- Jem gets the Mary Sue treatment in this episode. Although the viewers have been given thorough knowledge of Jerrica's upbringing from childhood, she is never mentioned to have received any formal training in swordsmanship, nor is this ever alluded to again. Nonetheless, she proves herself more competent in swordsmanship than even the Lord Carfax's guards, who have presumably been trained in swordsmanship all their lives.
- While Kimber, Aja and Shana proved themselves hopelessly incapable when it comes to archery, Raya is, in fact, a skilled archer.
- This would be incorporated into her character in the comic book series as a tribute.
