The Rat Hole is a location in the Jem animated series. It is Techrat's secret laboratory and lair, where he can get away from the rest of the world to focus on designing and building all sorts of electronic devices.

The Rat Hole is an igloo-shaped building mainly constructed of metal. It lies hidden in the middle of a junkyard that is presumably located at the outskirts of the city, where its owner, Techrat, can get away from the rest of the world to work on his technological projects without any interruptions. This junkyard is ideal for Techrat's schemes, as it provides him with all sorts of materials and replacement parts for his electronic devices in an almost unlimited supply, and it also provides him plenty of space to perform all sorts of tests, which more often than not happen to be quite dangerous. Very few know about this secret location, including Eric Raymond, The Misfits and The Stingers among Techrat's select few customers.
The building went through very drastic changes as the series progressed. At the beginning, it was just a common warehouse in a vacant lot, while later on it acquired its iconic igloo-like shape. Whether it actually evolved or if it was only the interpretation of the animators in turn is unknown.
