- For the assistant director, see Miguel.
Miguel Alonso is a minor character in the Jem animated series. He is Raya's father and is very supportive of her dreams to become a drummer, often encouraging her when she's about to give up.
He was voiced by Jack Angel.
History[]
Miguel heard about an audition for a new drummer Jem and The Holograms were holding after Shana quit the band. He suggested his daughter, Carmen (Raya), to go and give it a try. After some convincing she eventually agreed, although she arrived too late. When she explained him what happened, both went back and pretended to be delivering flowers. There, he convinced Jem to give Raya a chance, to which she agreed, with the band ending up really impressed with her performance.
As they set back home, Miguel realized he had forgotten the flowers back at the studio, so Raya went back for them. It was there that she learned Jem's secret identity by accident, and not knowing what to do, she left the place in a hurry, forgetting to pick up the flowers and making Miguel confused by the strange way she was acting.
Suspecting she knew something, Eric Raymond offered her money in exchange for acting as a spy for him and reveal Jem's secret identity.[1]
Later that day, Miguel's greenhouse was destroyed by a band of hired thugs. Realizing it would take a lot of money to repair the place, he gave up all hope. Even in their time of need, Raya refused the dishonest deal Eric had proposed to her, and instead offered to take part in the contest in order to win the money. Miguel was very happy to see her perform and win the contest, proudly shouting "That's my daughter!"
At that moment, however, Shana unexpectedly reappeared and the girls were glad to give her back a place in the band. Heartbroken and thinking they didn't need her anymore, Raya went back home. As she arrived and seeing her so sad, Miguel asked her what was wrong. Before he could give her any advice, The Holograms arrived and told her they still needed her, naming her their new drummer while Shana took charge of the rhythm guitar.[2]
