Mason Hawthorne is a minor character in the Jem animated series. He is an English musician who leads and plays guitar in a band called the Blue Bloods. In addition to this, he is the rightful heir to Wissex's earlship.
He was voiced by Michael Horton.
History[]
Mason is the leader of a British rock band called the Blue Bloods. A friend of him, Sir Hugh Ridley, owns a new establishment in Wissex called the "Unicorn Club" where the band is set to play, with Ridley donating the proceeds of the concert to help Mason with his current financial problems.
In addition to his musical career, Mason is also the rightful heir to the earldom of Wissex; a title he'll officially obtain in a couple of days, when he turns 21. Along with this title, he'll inherit a large and luxurious estate, as well as a vast extension of land which up to that point had been withheld by his uncle, Lord Trevor. Unfortunately, Mr. Trevor won't part with these possessions so easily, so he hires a couple of thugs to assassinate Mason.
The henchmen disguise themselves as music technicians and head to the "Unicorn Club" with the excuse of setting up the music equipment during the Blue Bloods' rehearsal. They plant a timed bomb inside the drum set with which they intent to kill Mason. Fortunately, due to an argument between Aja and Craig Phillips, almost everybody exits the locale, and only Craig and his little sister, Stormer, are caught inside when the bomb goes off, although luckily away enough from the artifact to result in any fatal casualties.
That night, Mason, Sir Hugh and The Holograms, infiltrate the estate right when the clock is striking eight o'clock, marking the moment when Mason is officially given the title of Earl of Wissex. They do this just in time before Lord Trevor, in cahoots with Jetta and her parents, trick Pizzazz into buying the entire mansion, making her believe it comes with a nobility title.
Seeing themselves cornered, Lord Trevor and his minions attempt to escape, but thanks to Jem and her holograms, they all get subdued and subsequently arrested by the police.
Mason then explains that because his uncle had lost all his money to gambling, he had left the earlship in a huge debt, which he'd also inherit when he became Earl. This was the reason why Sir Hugh was intending to donate the proceeds of the concert to help him. Since the "Unicorn Club" was destroyed by the explosion, it was convened to hold the concert that same night at the mansion, which turned out to be a great success and allowed Mason to pay all the creditors, as well as pay for the rebuilding of Sir Hugh's club with the leftover money.
