~ Martino in Intrigue at the Indy 500 |
Martino Grandzetti is a minor character in the Jem animated series. He is featured in the 22nd episode, Intrigue at the Indy 500. He is considered the world's greatest race car driver as he has never lost a race, and is set to compete in the Indy 500.
History[]
Martino is initially set to participate in the Indy 500, until his sponsor suddenly pulls out. Luckily, Starlight Music steps in to become the new sponsor and Jem and The Holograms show their support by donating a new and improved version of his race car, the Starlight Special. He thanks both Jem and Jerrica for their efforts, just as The Misfits crash the patron party and cause a mess inside the automobile club. Using one of the show cars, Martino scares them off.
During the Indy 500 qualifier, Martino loses control of the Starlight Special due to Vise's tampering, colliding with a platform on which Rio was taking pictures. Both men consequently end up in intensive care, with Martino in a full body cast and unable to move. This means he is unable to drive in the Indy 500 and Jem requests the help of Synergy to rebuild the Starlight Special. Jem decides to take Martino's place and, despite undergoing multiple damage attempts by Pizzazz, manages to win the race, beating all previous speed records. She dedicates the winning trophy to Martino.
Personality[]
Martino appears to be rather calm and collected, even when he lands up in the hospital and is unable to compete in the Indy 500, despite it being one of the highlights of his career.
