Lena Lerner is a minor character in the Jem animated series. She is an audacious and talented singer and performer, and also the mother of Dominic, the hottest teen idol in town.
Lena was one of the guest music celebrities invited to perform at the "Jem Jam".
History[]
Lena is a widely known music artist, known for powerhouse vocals and star ability. She arrives at the Hollywood Hills party with her son, among other guests, for the "Jem Jam" that will be thrown by Jem and The Holograms. She believes her son, Dominic, is irresponsible despite him being a teen idol with a strong talent in music, and doesn't allow him to perform at the Jem Jam. She also shows to support feminism by punishing Dominic when he talks rudely to the Starlight Girls, as well as teaming up with Lindsey Pierce to stop an attack brought on by thieves.
Appearance[]
Lena is of African-American descent. She can usually be seen wearing a tight and sparkly red nightdress and fashions a peculiar big hairstyle which, added to her tall stature, adds to an imposing, although still attractive, persona.
Personality[]
Lena is an elegant and courteous woman who knows exactly how to behave among other people. She is especially amicable toward those that surround her and is always ready with a well-timed and clever comment to spice up the moment. However, and despite her gorgeous looks, she is definitely no pushover and is always ready to smack a few heads if the occasion demands it.
She can be a bit overprotective at times, especially with her son, Dominic, who has to hopelessly bear the many rules she imposes upon him, although them always being for his own good due to his evident immaturity.

- Lena Lerner is based on real-life R&B legend, the late Tina Turner, who became wildly popular in the 1980s; especially in 1984 with the release of her fifth solo album, Private Dancer, which included the hit "What's Love Got to Do with It".
