Journey to Shangri-La

Journey to Shangri-La is the twenty-second episode of the second season, and the 48th episode overall, of the Jem animated series.

Synopsis[]

The Holograms try to find Shangri-La, the mythological city where all music and art is kept, to add a new twist to their music. When Pizzazz and Roxy end up sick and Shangri-La's music is the only thing that can cure them, it's a race against time to save them.

This is one of the very few episodes where Jem reveals her identity. In this case, it is revealed only to an elderly woman named Lowen in order to be shown the way to Shangri-La.
This episode is one of the few that have different animation. Some speculate this was because Marvel and Sunbow were trying to save money and those episodes were not properly made on Toei Animation. Other episodes with this type of animation are Video Wars, The Middle of Nowhere and The Presidential Dilemma.
Also noteworthy is the appearance of a being considered only a legend, the Yeti, known as the Abominable Snowman.
