Harold is a minor character in the Jem animated series. He is a British usurer whose music promoter, Red Johnny Mac, owes him a big sum of money.
History[]
We are first introduced to Harold and his two goons when they catch young music promoter, Red Johnny Mac, in a club after having escaped from Rodney and his band, The Rockets, whom he also owes money to. Harold asks Johnny to pay the money he owes him, but Johnny replies he doesn't have any because his last tour didn't make a penny. In response, one of Harold's goons throws him to the floor, grabs him by the feet, and starts shaking him over, trying to make at least some nickels to drop from his pockets. Desperately trying to get out of this situation, Johnny tells Harold he will pay him with the proceeds from a rock opera he is planning to produce, Beauty and the Beast. Intrigued, Harold asks him who will be playing Beauty, and Johnny, looking at a video screen on the bar displaying images of Jem, replies that she will be the protagonist.
Surprisingly, The Holograms quickly accept the invitation and the production of the new play is going quite well. However, due to working so hard, Jem falls ill from exhaustion and The Misfits are then asked to take The Holograms' place. Learning this, Harold pays a second visit to Johnny and rebukes him that he promised Jem would be starring, and that he doesn't like The Misfits. Pizzazz enters the room at this moment and threatens that if they hurt her feelings, then they won't have anybody to star on the play.
The preview night finally comes, but The Misfits are ruining the show with their bad acting skills, while Harold looks in dismay from behind the stage. Fortunately, Jem and The Holograms arrive just in time to retake their place in the play and save the day. Pizzazz tries to stand her ground, but Harold steps up and tells her Jem wasn't asking her, she was just telling her. When Pizzazz asks him who's gonna stop her, Harold sends his two henchmen, who grab Pizzazz by the arms and drag her out of the theater.
And so, with Jem back in the starring role, the play is a great success and, after the show, Harold goes to congratulate Johnny for this big hit.
