History[]
An unnamed ophthalmologist referred to simply as the "eye doctor" in the series.
Having noticed that Starlight Girl Ba Nee lately had been having trouble to see well, Mrs. Bailey and Jerrica Benton make an appointment for her to see an eye doctor. At the clinic, the doctor discovers that she actually suffers from a hereditary and degenerative illness that could leave her blind in a matter of months... or even weeks. Deeply concerned by this situation, Jerrica asks him if there's any kind of treatment, to which the doctor informs her that there is a type of experimental laser surgery that has worked in some cases like this. Unfortunately, the operation costs $250,000. Not wanting Ba Nee to know the truth, Jerrica keeps the bad news to herself while she devises a plan to raise the money.
Relying that The Holograms' upcoming movie, Starbright, could pay for the operation, things take a turn for the worse when the production finds itself in trouble and The Holograms are left with no other option than to quit and try to finish the film by themselves.
The day of Ba Nee's operation, the eye doctor asks Jerrica to see him in his office. It happens that out of desperation, Jerrica resorted to sign a Deed of Trust which set Starlight Mansion as collateral in case she didn't manage to cover the cost of the operation. The doctor asks her if she completely understands that this could mean her losing the mansion, but Jerrica stays firm on her decision and tells him to go ahead with the surgery.
Fortunately, The Holograms movie results to be a huge success and thus the operation is able to be paid with its first earnings. Furthermore, Ba Nee's operation is also a big success, and once she recovers, Jerrica takes her and the rest of the Starlight Girls to the theater to see the movie which saved her sight.
