The Boss (unofficial name) is a minor character in the Jem animated series. He is the leader of some shady business men who want to ensure Eric Raymond hands over the money he owes after betting on race car number 007. He features in the episode Intrigue at the Indy 500.

History[]

The Boss is at the pre-race party for the Indy 500 and introduces his handyman Vise to Eric Raymond, as a form of intimidation. As a group, their plan is to put a large amount of money on the winning car (that's been secretly given an illegally overpowered engine) to double their winnings. The Boss seems unable to trust Eric, which is why he has Vise on the side in case anything doesn't go as planned. He guesses right, as even though Eric had forced the opposition's sponsor to pull out, it is announced that Starlight Music has stepped in. Vise then tampers with the Starlight Special, which at the Indy 500 qualifier, spins out due to the damage and puts both Martino and Rio into intensive care.

The Boss and Vise attend the official Indy 500 to ensure Eric obliges their deal. As Jem takes Martino's spot in the Indy 500, and Pizzazz forces her way into car number 007, the group are all on the edge of their seats when both girls fight for first place. Despite their efforts to tamper and sabotage the competition, Jem wins, and dedicates the trophy to Martino. The Boss and Vice are angry with Eric for losing their money and plan to take care of him - but Pizzazz gets there first, practically cornering him with her car. They chuckle, gleeful in seeing him accept his karma and leave Pizzazz to it.

Personality[]

The Boss appears to have little-to-no patience, consequently hiring a loyal handyman to do his dirty work for him. He does everything with urgency and has enough funds to bet thousands of dollars on the Indy 500 and still remain wealthy. He isn't forgiving, which is proved when Eric fails to go through with the plan, and along with Vise, they track Eric down to teach him a lesson.
