Beauty's Father (unofficial name) is a minor character in the Jem animated series. He is an actor playing the role of the protagonist's father on Red Johnny Mac's rock opera, Beauty and the Beast.
History[]
Beauty's father is introduced during the first rehearsal of Red Johnny Mac's upcoming rock opera, Beauty and the Beast, starring Jem and The Holograms. In a similar fashion to the father of the protagonist of the original fairy tale, the old man picks up an object belonging to the Beast, in this case a golden electric guitar (in the original tale, it's a rose instead). The Beast catches him in the act and rebukes him for stealing his property. The father explains he wanted to present the guitar to his daughter Beauty, because he is too poor to buy her one, and she and her sisters sing and play. The Beast allows him to take the guitar and leave, under the condition that he sends his daughter to him, but if she refuses, he'll become his slave forever.
When the old man arrives to his house, he is immediately questioned by his four selfish daughters –played by Kimber, Aja, Shana and Raya– about the guitar; only his fifth daughter, Beauty, played by Jem, is concerned about him. The man tells them about his encounter with the Beast and the latter's condition of sending Beauty to him. The four arrogant daughters don't seem to mind much about this tragedy, but Beauty isn't afraid and says she'll go to the Beast, much to her father's dismay.
From this point onward, the play focuses on Beauty and the Beast, and the father and the rest of his daughters only play a secondary role.
