The 5th Avenue Boys are an all-male music band appearing in the Jem animated series. They are signed to Starlight Music by Jerrica. They are nearly selected for the "Glitter and Gold" contest, until Jem and The Holograms enter. They also attend the very first annual Lin-Z TV celebrity beach-bash in A Change of Heart.
Lineup[]
The 5th Avenue boys consists of three members and are apparently an up-and-coming band since being signed to Starlight Music during the time Jem and The Holograms temporarily stopped making music. They are named Joe, Jay and Tom, each with their own instrument. Jerrica went to meet Owen Beech on 5th Avenue Boys' behalf, hoping to get them entered into the "Glitter and Gold" contest, but overhears The Misfits saying that she will ruin their careers just like she ruined Jem's. This provides Jerrica with the motivation to guarantee the delivery of a new Jem and The Holograms album in time for the contest.
The 5th Avenue Boys are spotted in the mall, making a music video which is directed by Anthony Julian.
Trivia[]
- The band member names are a joke made by Christy Marx, as they are names of some people who worked on Jem. The band name originates from the fact they worked on 5th Avenue, and their names are Jay Bacal (creative director), Tom Griffin (executive producer) and Joe Bacal (executive producer). Jay Bacal was Joe's son and Christy worked closely with him on many Sunbow shows.
- They only appear in episodes that were written by Christy Marx.
